JCSC Pumas Advance in Rec Cup

Jefferson County Soccer Club is pleased to announce that its U19, birth year 2001 team, the Pumas, won its District IV qualifying rounds of Washington Youth Soccer's Recreational Cup tournament. The Pumas will advance to the state quarterfinals and will face the still-to-be-determined winner of District I in a match scheduled for Dec. 8.

Faced with a shortage of players early in the season, the Pumas, designated a boys team, invited local high school girls to the team to fill out the roster. In NSYSA's recreational division, coed teams in the older age brackets are not uncommon, and Pumas coach Nate Land reports that the girls are an integral part of the team's success. Land, an experienced soccer player, coach, and organizer, is in his first year coaching for JCSC, and is also the club's new Director of Coaching.
